Un-Jung Kim, ECL group leader
"Chemistry is in everything and at everywhere. With science, we can do better."
Dr. Un-Jung Kim has developed her career in South Korea and the U.S. with multidisciplinary approaches in the fields of environmental analytical chemistry, environmental engineering and toxicology. Her research centers on "environmental chemicals" and "persistent toxic substances".
Major research interests encompass the development of novel sampling/analytical methods in line with exposome study, monitoring of persistent organic pollutants (POPs), endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) and other priority environmental contaminants in human specimens, wildlife, environmental compartments, food, consumer products, and delineating exposure sources, pathways and impact of chemicals on receptors.
The ideal goal of her research is to seek prospective solutions to prevent social damages caused by these chemicals of concerns and to protect human health, ecosystem and the environment by understanding the occurrence, fate, interaction mechanism and associated risks of environmental chemicals.
